Jonathan Capps is a Columbus based artist who began working with glass in 2002 at Centre College (Danville, KY). After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2005 , Capps spent the following year finishing his Graduate Fellowship for Centre’s Department of Art.
In 2006 Capps was accepted into The Pittsburgh Glass Center’s Technical Internship Program where for the next two years he lived and worked with a myriad of internationally renowned glass artists.
In 2008 Capps was awarded a residency at the Flame Run Glass Studio in Louisville, and after moving to Kentucky, he both worked out of Flame Run's studio, and assisted in The University of Louisville’s glass program.
In 2009 he was selected for the International Artist in Residency Program at Lasikomppania & Iittala Glassworks in Nuutajarvi, Finland, and returned the following year to assist teaching a glass sculpting class to Finnish glass students and factory workers.
By 2013 Capps was accepted into the Master of Fine Arts program at The Ohio State University and achieved his MFA in the summer of 2016. Jonathan currently lives in Columbus, OH practicing his art, making glass, and teaching as a faculty lecturer in OSU’s Department of Art.
