Toots Zynsky

Mary Ann Toots Zynsky, is most known for her stunning, distinctive aesthetic and the development of “Filet de Verre” —her signature technique. Simply put, there is no mistaking a Toots Zynsky piece. Even at a distance, her work flows and folds into the space surrounding it. They are an amalgamation of color, compelling lines and imagination.

Born and raised in Massachusetts, she completed her BFA in 1973 at the Rhode Island School of Design. Zynsky, along with her contemporaries (Dan Dailey, Bruce Chao and Therman Statom) were among the first to study under Dale Chihuly. Being a part of the first generation of artists working in new ways with glass, her artistic contribution was pivotal in bringing the studio glass movement to a global audience. Accordingly, her art is represented in over 70 museums worldwide.
